Story Behind the Art
I created Heart Bandit around Valentine’s Day, during a time in my life when love felt delicate and uncertain. It wasn’t the loud and clear love, more like a quiet flutter, a soft ache, something tender that I wasn’t sure I was brave enough to hold. I felt full of affection, but also full of doubt, and those feelings found their way into this little raccoon.
I later realized his hesitant expression was a reflection of my energy and what I was going through. He looks like he wants to offer his heart, but isn’t sure if he should. Like he’s been rehearsing this moment in his head, hoping for the courage to take a tiny step forward. There’s sweetness in him, but vulnerability too, the same mix that was swirling inside me at the time.
For me, Heart Bandit is about the gentle kind of love that tiptoes in, the kind that asks you to be brave even when your hands shake. A reminder that offering your heart, even shyly, is still an act of courage.
