Story Behind the Art
Abel is the first mountain that greets you when you pull into the Mount Cain parking lot, and the very first time I saw it, it genuinely stole my breath. It stood there towering and snow-draped, so grand and radiant that I had to stop and just stare. There was something almost otherworldly about it, like the mountain was revealing its truest self in that winter moment.
I’ve had the pleasure of hiking Abel in the summer, wandering through its ridges and looking out over that incredible landscape. But in my heart, the version that stayed with me the most was the one I first saw in winter: deep snow, dramatic slopes, and this quiet, powerful presence that felt both welcoming and immense.
When I painted Abel winter Wonderland, I wanted to capture that memory, the mountain at its most magical. Abel glowing under a soft pink sunset, wrapped in fresh snow and illuminated like a scene from a winter dream. A place where the world goes calm for a moment and lets you feel small in the most comforting way.
